This Sunday is our Harvest Festival at St Mary’s – services are 8am quiet communion, and 10am all age communion. Do bring with you either fresh produce to be auctioned at our Harvest meal on Monday supporting Christian Aid, or tins and packets which will be given to the foodbank. At 2pm we join with the Methodist and Catholic churches for an ecumenical open air Harvest Celebration at West Shore car park. We will be joined there by Dalton town band, and singing some of the traditional harvest hymns.
This Sunday we have a reflective communion at 8am, and at 10am we welcome the family and friends of Tori-Jai, Charli-Jean, Milly, and Georgi for their Christening. Our theme is the reality of the Christian life.
This Sunday at St Marys is a busy day. At 8am and 10am I have been requested to repeat my sermon from Thursday, looking at how we welcome strangers, and what we can learn from successful restaurants! At 2pm, appropriately enough, we welcome the families of Alfie and Eleanor into church for their baptism, and at 3pm Messy Church restarts in the church centre, the theme this time is ‘The Biggest Party Ever’, complete with party food laid on.
At our 8am and 10am services we will be thinking about what life is all about.
We will also be joined by Maggie, the new intern – come and say hello!
As Julie and I will be attending the retirement service of a friend in Nottingham, this Sunday our services will be taken by the Rev. Brian Jones. Next week there will be no parish Evening on Tuesday, or Thursday Communion service.
Welcome to St Mary’s newly redesigned web site. Do browse the content – this is early days so there will be plenty more to come!
